2023 thus far, for me, has been quite the experience and wasn’t expected when I finished out my last episode. I decided that the topic Flow would be a good one to banter on as it’s an experience that I feel really good when I am in it. What is Flow and how do I get in it? Well, this research started back in the 1960’s by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (phonetic pronunciation: Me high? Cheeks send me high!) and to quote him, ““The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times . . . The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.”

The word Self-Care has become a mainstream buzzword, and, in many ways, I have seen it become something that I don’t believe is its original meaning, though many would disagree with me. Care of oneself can look like so many things and isn’t just about taking care of the largest organ on our body (skin) or making sure we are eating healthy and exercising. My perspective of it goes much deeper and yes, there are some folks out there that believe this too. That’s what Rudy and I dive into.

It’s been some time again since my last banter. I was having a hard time finding the right topic to talk about and the right person to have it with.
So, I decided that Spring, in particular Earth Month and Community Gardens, would be a good place to pick up where I left off. I have been an avid gardener, both containers and ground, for almost three decades and have always been a big fan of people who grow their own food which my home conditions are not conducive for.
My friend Annemarie Sampson, from Mission Driven Wellness and a passionate environmentalist, is having this conversation with me to help share how important Community Gardens are the far-reaching benefits that have lasting impact.
I ask you to take some time out of your life, make some space and listen to this conversation. Then find some space, find some people, find some resources to start connecting with Mother Earth, your community and bringing a healing space to everyone.
Thank you for listening and supporting my work. Be Well, Marlo

Reclamation of Oneself, my theme for this conversation is with two of my dearest friends I invited back, Mariam Hannon and Lindsay Styck. We talk and laugh about how to take back - reclaim - yourself and really take a look at where you want to expand in this new year. It’s about creating a path and the steps that meet your needs, desires and dreams, not anyone else’s. This banter is about what questions to ask yourself, what steps to take and how to move forward with these intentions as your guide this year, and how to be kinder to yourself through the whole process.

I decided to do this conversation by myself, as Micro Gratitude is what I have been practicing my whole adult life. This episode is short and straight to the point and insight into how I live it. Micro Gratitude is a daily practice that happens in so many moments all day long when you allow yourself to get present and really BE IN your life. Yes, it is truly life changing when you allow it to be. I know it’s changed mine.

Today’s Marlo’s Conversations with Friends: topics around WELL-Being is with a very close friend of mine, Jill Zimmerman, on Connection. This topic came to mind a few months ago as one of deep importance given that we have been in a pandemic for a year now and that we are all craving Connection in every shape and form. I have been teaching this topic for a very long time within the context of building relationships, working with one-on-one with guests, public speaking and more, and wanted to bring it into the present again.

IT’S SUNDAY. Good Morning & Happy New Year. In light of the horrific event happened last, saying Happy New Year is a little hard to roll off my tongue. That said, todays Marlo’s Conversations with Friends topic is PRINCIPLES & VALUES.I was originally set to record this before Christmas and needed to postpone it to handle an emergency. It was quite fortuitous that I sat down with my longtime dear friend and colleague, Joan Each-Rowan, the morning after the Capitol was assaulted to have this conversation.
